Springboard is a torturous way of making kids learn. Springboard was originally designed to prepare you for harder level classes and get you ready for college; But most find it incredibly difficult to become prepared, let alone be interested, when you are in a senior level English where you read out of the same book and everything just repeats itself. Not to mention Springboard Math tries to teach you through irrelevant word problems but then expects you to apply them on a test in a way that you have not been taught. While students are finding it difficult to learn this way, English and Math teachers are struggling to teach it. English teachers say that all the classical literature is gone and there are no grammar or vocabulary lessons whatsoever. With the classical literature gone students have no exposure to a complex learning structure. Most English teachers prefer to teach the original curriculum and be able to teach the way they want, rather than be told what and how they teach. Math teachers also feel the same way. They are forced to teach kids out of the Springboard book, and use the word problems that Springboard provides them. This also does not allow kids any further notes within a lesson, therefore, they have notes to study from for a test. This structure of teaching and learning is going to get very old and become boring for students and teachers that have to use it year after year. It is only going to make students resent the teachers for teaching it, and make the teachers resent the school board for forcing them to teach it. Springboard is merely demonizing both the students and the teachers.
I agree, this harms kids from learning new material. I think the school board should get rid of springboard. I think it forces the teacher to teach a certain way. not to mention it is very boring and bland.

I understand that Springboard is a new part of the corriculum that they are trying out. However, students don't feel as comfortable learning about the material. As well as teachers not feeling confident enough to teach some of the material. I think they need to get rid of it and stick to the material they already have.

I agree that Springboard is extremely difficult for not only the students to learn from but also for the teachers to teach from. It is just a very bad idea in general to be used and should just be done away with instead of being forced to keep using it.

I agree! Boring to me and in turn 💤 boring my students. I hate it and if we don't follow it, we get chewed out! I teach 45% special education students and it's Not working.

We reviews Springbored for our last adoption and I vehemently refused, saying it was for lazy teachers (scripted) repetitive, drill and kill, and lacked creativity which is the number one complaint of business in America today. Worker have no creativity, and the reason is because we have done away with literature which teaches social values, history, human nature, and replaced it with boring nonfiction. No imagination necessary. We are forced in our district to teach this tripe, and I am trying to lead the fight against dropping literature, vocabulary, and grammar, but I am considered "difficult" and "resistant to change." My 32 years of experience means nothing to them because it is vertically aligned and scripted, therefore uniform. That is precisely what makes it BORING. EFF Springbored!
